One changing frame, three earlier chapters: making an ad history worth visiting
The Only Billboard

A homepage shows the current chapter. An archive can make the earlier chapters worth opening too.
On The Only Billboard, that distinction is part of the format: there is one live advertising frame, not a grid of simultaneous placements. When a later approved paid takeover replaces the live creative, the previous ad becomes a public History entry. We do not want “no longer live” to mean “no longer visible anywhere.”
A short tour, as checked on October 22
The live frame currently belongs to IOCUS after the fourth paid takeover at $4. The next takeover is $5. History contains the three earlier entries: RELVE at $1, Brick500 at $2, and Drummond Hearing at $3. Each record pairs the creative and destination with its paid price and the time it was replaced. The History date is not a promise about the next advertiser’s display period.
A visitor can inspect those earlier entries without purchasing a placement. Start at the live board, open History, and compare the successive creative identities. The interesting object is the sequence, not just today’s image.
What the record is for
A single changing surface makes the present state easy to see, but it can hide what came before. Our public History gives the replaced ads another place in the project. Keeping the price and replacement moment beside each entry helps distinguish a past event from the current offer.
That is a description of the existing interface, not a newly shipped feature or a measured conversion improvement. We have not established that a visible history produces more clicks, sales or better returns for advertisers. Four paid takeovers are four participation events, not proof of repeatable advertising performance.
The boundary still matters
The Only Billboard is a virtual web project, not a physical roadside installation. A takeover changes the one live ad until a later approved paid replacement. It does not reserve a day, establish ownership of the website, or guarantee a minimum live duration, traffic or sales. An archived creative is also not our endorsement of the advertiser.
If you visit today, look at both surfaces: the current frame and the three chapters in History. That is the small interaction we are introducing—not just an ad, but a web page with a visible before and after.
